We were lucky enough to review a Legion Y25-30 firsthand. One of my favorite recent gaming laptop tests and reviews was the Legion 7i and Lenovo was kind enough to also provide us with a suitable external monitor for testing – enter the Legion Y25-30. If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line gaming monitor that won’t break the bank, the Lenovo Legion Y25-30 is an interesting option. With a 24.5″ screen and 240 Hz refresh rate, it’s great for first-person shooters and other fast-paced games, but even a slow-paced game will look great on this screen of course. Plus, the AMD FreeSync technology helps to reduce screen tearing and stuttering. What else is interesting about this display with a focus on gaming and esports? Let’s jump right in.

Testing out the Lenovo Legion Y25-30 gaming monitor

The Lenovo Legion Y25-30 gaming monitor is a combination of performance and design. Featuring a 240 Hz refresh rate and up-to-date response time, gamers can stay competitive with split-second reactions. Plus, High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology ensures stunning visuals, perfect for immersing yourself in gameplay for hours at a time. On top of it all, an adjustable stand and slim bezels provide a sleek look that seamlessly fits in any setup. While height-adjustable is great, I wished that it could be adjusted even a bit higher up than the maximum setting. The base is a bit bulky but that makes it much more stable and helps to avoid it from shaking or falling over in the heat of the battle.

What about the specs and features of the Legion Y25-30?

The Lenovo Legion Y25-30 gaming monitor is geared toward gamers and esports enthusiasts who want a great gaming experience. It boasts FHD, HDR support, and remarkable visuals with its anti-glare feature, while the inclusion of cutting-edge VRR FreeSync technology helps reduce motion blur and ghosting. For gamers that need to prevent eyestrain, this model also features Natural Low Blue Light technology, ensuring comfortable gameplay without sacrificing resolution or color accuracy. Also, because I know some of you actually do that, the screen supports to be rotated by 90° so it can serve a portrait ratio resolution.

Choosing the ideal monitor for your workspace to maximize productivity and immersion can be a tricky task. Let’s take a look at this spec and port overview to make sure you’re set up for success. WLED backlight technology is a must for superior lighting and dynamic color gamut coverage of up to 99%. It also supports both HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, so you’ll get the clearest high frame rate visuals from your display in no time. USB Type-A and Type-B ports accommodate wired peripherals such as mice, keyboards, headsets, and more. A USB Type-C port would have been nice but is not available for this particular product.

There’s even a 3.5 mm audio-out jack so you can add loudspeakers or connect a wired headset if you want. With the two 3W integrated speakers built into the monitor, there’s no need for any extra purchases—simply plug it right in to start taking advantage of pristine sound quality for enhancing your viewing experience. The sound quality for gaming is great, but for some reason, I found that voice-only audio, like video calls, is not that great. Maybe use a headset if you’re going to speak to others instead. For an all-in-one experience that enables every possible use case scenario, this package delivers on its promise.

Overall a fine display

When it comes to gaming, the monitor will offer a great display experience regardless of what game you are playing. It utilizes FHD which might be a little outdated as a standard for resolutions, however, FHD is still used by many gamers and while it might not be the biggest resolution, you can still get good image quality and high framerate as the monitor allows up to 240 Hz refresh rate which gives gamers a super-smooth gaming experience. Being able to play games in FHD with such high refresh rates makes this monitor a great option for gaming lovers alike.

So what’s the verdict of the review? Overall, the Lenovo Legion Y25-30 gaming monitor is a great pick if your budget is a bit tighter than usual. It offers some really nice features for its price, making it one of the more affordable monitors out there – I’m talking about an FHD display with a 240Hz refresh rate, great response time, and AMD FreeSync support for, let’s check, currently $314.99. Sure, the resolution could be better but it’s not terrible either and you get everything else you would expect from a mid-range monitor at this price.
