Item trackers have become indispensable for those who frequently misplace their belongings or want peace of mind while traveling. Chipolo’s latest offerings, the ONE Point and CARD Point, cater specifically to Android users by integrating directly into Google’s Find My Device app, eliminating the need for a separate third-party application. We tested the Google-compatible variants for several weeks, and here’s our detailed assessment. While our experience was limited to the Android models, these insights should largely apply to the Apple-compatible Chipolo ONE Spot and CARD Spot.
Straightforward setup and user experience
One of the standout features of the Chipolo Point trackers is how seamlessly they integrate into the Google Find My Device ecosystem. Setting them up is effortless, with pairing completed in just a few simple steps on an Android device. There’s no need to download or install additional apps, which is a refreshing and efficient touch.

Once linked, the trackers reliably show their location on the Find My Device app, and users can play a loud sound to help locate their belongings quickly. The overall experience met expectations during testing with no additional costs or subscription fees. Everything performed as advertised, reinforcing the simplicity and reliability these trackers offer.
Performance in the real world
Long story short: The solution works. But let’s dive into some more details, of course.
Location tracking
We tested global tracking capabilities in Germany, Spain, and Singapore. The Chipolo devices worked flawlessly in every instance, connecting to Google’s vast network of Android devices to locate items over long distances. This feature is particularly useful for travelers or anyone frequently moving between locations.
Sound and range
The Chipolo ONE Point and CARD Point also deliver on their promise of loud, audible sound cues. The sound is sufficient for easy recovery when items are misplaced within a home, like keys left in another room. The quoted range of 200 feet (approximately 60 meters) was performed accurately under most conditions. However, it’s worth noting that the environment can influence sound clarity.

Open areas or quieter settings allow for easier identification, while crowded spaces like airports or train stations may slightly hinder sound-based tracking. Nevertheless, the system reliably tracks the item’s location and plays a sound to reduce recovery time.
Durability and battery life
Both models are rated IPX5 water-resistant, making them splash-proof and suitable for everyday use. While we didn’t expose the devices to extreme conditions, their construction feels robust, and they should withstand typical use scenarios like being in a bag during rain. The CARD Point, slim enough to fit in a wallet, is particularly handy for tracking wallets, IDs, or passports.

Battery reliability is another strength. Over several weeks of testing, no noticeable drain was observed. The app offers a straightforward “battery ok” status indicator but lacks detailed battery monitoring. The Chipolo ONE Point features a replaceable battery that lasts approximately one year. In contrast, the CARD Point’s battery life is rated for two years, after which it must be replaced through Chipolo’s recycling program.
Use cases and practical applications
We tested these trackers in various everyday scenarios, and they performed admirably across the board. For example:
- Travel: Placing a tracker inside luggage offered reassurance during air travel should the suitcase go astray.
- Everyday Items: Attaching the ONE Point to a keyring or placing the CARD Point in a wallet made locating these items at home straightforward.
- Pets (Potentially): While these trackers aren’t specifically designed for animals, attaching one carefully to a collar or pet clothing could be an inexpensive way to track a pet in specific situations.
These use cases highlight the versatility of the devices, which can adapt to a variety of needs. However, their design is focused more on personal items than unique tracking challenges like pet behavior or outdoor sports.
Room for improvement
While the Chipolo Point trackers are well-designed and functional, there are some areas for potential improvement. For example, while the ONE Point includes a replaceable battery, extending this design to the CARD Point would improve its sustainability. Additionally, compared to competitors like Tile or AirTags, which are known for offering features like integration with accessories or broader app functionality, the Chipolo solution is more streamlined but less feature-rich.

However, it’s worth noting that these trackers avoid hidden monthly fees, which is an advantage over some pet-tracking and premium tools. Pricing is another factor. The Amazon prices as of today are $20 for the Chipolo ONE (regular $25) and $18 for the Chipolo CARD (regular $30). These prices are reasonable considering the functionality provided, with both models offering practical tracking solutions at an accessible cost.
Are the Chipolo trackers worth it?
Chipolo’s ONE Point and CARD Point trackers deliver a solid, no-frills tracking solution for Android users. They integrate seamlessly with Google’s Find My Device platform, are simple to set up, and reliably track items near and far. Sound performance, durability, and basic functionality all perform as expected, making them a straightforward choice for those looking to keep tabs on their belongings.

While the lack of ecosystem flexibility and sustainable design in some models could be a consideration, the trackers balance cost, usability, and effective tracking. Whether you’re traveling, managing household items, or testing creative solutions like pet tracking, the Chipolo trackers are a reliable and affordable option. For Android users, they’re an integrated extension of the ecosystem and likely just as effective for Apple devotees opting for the Spot models.
