Online betting has been around since the 90s, and it has come a long way since then. The existence of online gambling sites has undoubtedly changed how many people would gamble over the years. Thanks to these operators, people of age can easily play their favorite casino games and bet on sports at any given time and place. Gambling is now more accessible than ever.

Sports betting is particularly gaining more popularity as more places worldwide start to be more welcoming of this activity. In the United States, the Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992 in 2018. This made sports betting federally legal in the country, and today, over 20 states have legal sports betting.

Meanwhile, in countries like the United Kingdom and India, sports betting is also prevalent. Both countries love certain sports like football and cricket, so it’s not surprising these are mixed in with another one of their favorite activities, betting. Today, the best betting apps for India and the UK would get a lot of users every time a major football or cricket event is on.

Mobile betting is the more preferred option

While the availability of sports betting on the internet has been revolutionary, development in the industry carried on. Back then, it was enough to be able to visit a casino or bookie site with a PC or laptop, but these days, more people are going online with their mobile devices.

Earlier this year, the number of mobile users has already beaten those who use desktops. As of February this year, mobile is now almost 55 percent of the market, and desktop accounts for 42 percent. Only three percent accounts for tablet users, but it’s still considered under the mobile category.

It’s no wonder why many industries are starting to shift their focus to the mobile market. It’s no different for the sports betting businesses because many of them are now ensuring that their products and services are mobile-friendly.

Many punters are starting to realize how more convenient betting apps could be. It’s easier to access a mobile betting app as it’s just a few taps away. There is also no need to log in every time as some of these apps let users log in with their fingerprint or a PIN.

Betting apps are always free to download but know that you will still have to go to the official bookie site to get it. Platforms like the Apple App Store and Google Play Store are strict when it comes to gambling-related apps. However, there are already countries where gambling apps are allowed to be on these platforms.

Earlier this year, Google has announced that there would be changes to the Play Store policies, which will allow gambling and betting apps on the platform in 15 more countries. The countries that will then have gambling apps on Play Store will be Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and the United States.

The availability of mobile betting apps on the Play Store will depend on the regulations in these countries. Google also ensures that not just any gambling apps will be able to get a spot on the platform as the developers will also have to go through an application process. Still, this shows how mobile gambling apps are becoming more popular.

What to look for in a betting app

There are quite a few great betting apps out there that you can easily download, and it could be tough to decide which one is the best. This will depend on what you need from a betting operator. These days, many betting apps have so many features, but these may not come in handy for some.

When shopping for a betting app, you should prioritize your security. Make sure that you are downloading the app from an official site. Check if the most convenient payment method is also available on the app. After all, you’re downloading a betting app to avoid any hassle like the use of tedious payment solutions.

When it comes to features, some apps offer live streaming of sports events. If you’re serious about profiting from betting, you’ll find betting apps with the latest news and updates on the sports scene very handy. If you’re following a series, check if the app allows you to easily access the event ladder too. Overall, when it comes to features, it’s alright to not go for apps with the most of them. The best features are the ones that you’ll find useful.
