With the recent boom of AI, the robotics industry is rapidly expanding. Robots can now be seen doing more than just manufacturing; robots can also do more detailed work such as writing letters, doing surgery, or even assisting in the kitchen. Businesses are starting to see the appeal of using robots which is why companies are eager to create robots for different fields, like in the service sector. In fact, it’s predicted that the service robot sector will enjoy a compound annual growth rate of 24.6 percent from 2021 to 2027.
LG Electronics is just one of these companies that are leading in the service robot sector, providing LG CLOi robots in various services. These CLOi robots leverage several of the company’s cutting-edge core technologies, including autonomous driving, sensors, artificial intelligence or AI, and cameras. The company is focusing on making an impact in its robotics business as well.

Employing service robots
The company first introduced the series of LG CLOi robots during CES ’18. They designed the robots for different purposes. These include GuideBot, ServeBot, ChefBot, and UV Robot. They can navigate complex commercial environments, providing customized solutions for different scenarios. With multiple cameras and sensors to move safely, they can be found in areas ranging such as restaurants, museums, or hospitals.
One example is the LG CLOi GuideBot in South Korea’s Changwon Public Library. The library also has three ServBots — two shelf types and one drawer type. Each robot can perform a range of library-specific functions, showing the versatility of LG robots. The drawer type transports books to children or people with mobility issues. Users can request a book at the search desk and have it delivered to them as well. Meanwhile, the shelf type helps convey returned books to automated book return desks. With the help of these robots, they increased accessibility and convenience for visitors.

The LG CLOi robots are also improving the visitor experience at select museums in South Korea. Last March, the Gongju National Museum and National Assembly Museum deployed a GuideBot. It successfully performed in exhibits, providing directions and informative commentary on the museums’ artifacts and collections to the visitors.
LG is trying to develop innovative service robot solutions to enhance convenience and experiences for people in various fields and settings. With its advanced technologies and expertise, they aim to create a better life for everyone with LG CLOi robots. Innovations like this along with improvements in AI will boost the robotics sector.
