Seattle, US, September 20 — Microsoft has already sold out all Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition units, which were unveiled last month, during the gamescom event, in Cologne, Germany. With all those special edition units going out that fast in the pre-order shop, they now start pre-order options as well for the Xbox One X standard edition to cover the demand of the Microsoft gaming console fans.
The new Xbox One X will be available this holiday season starting on November 7, 2017. That is roughly one year after Sony pushed out the PlayStation 4 Pro, which is currently available for $399.00.
Xbox One X games and features
For the launch of the new console, there will also be more than 130 games that have been fully optimized to work with the upgraded hardware and give the users a better experience with improved graphics (HDR), performance (60 fps) and advanced resolution options (4K).

Such enhanced titles include of games like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Far Cry 5, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Star Wars Battlefront II, State of Decay 2, and many others. Next to all the new AAA titles, many older games have also been optimized to work with the new visual possibilities. You can check all available titles on their Xbox One X enhanced games list.
Compatibility and price
Fear not, fellow gamers, this is not a next-gen console release. Similar to the Xbox One S, the new Xbox One X will fully support your Xbox One games and accessories as per Microsoft. Considering the price of $499.99 for the Xbox One X with a 1TB HDD, this seems about fair. At least you don’t have to buy all new gear just because you upgraded your console to the latest version.
Quotes and opinions
“It’s a crazy powerful box. [Shadow of War on Xbox One X] will be the prettiest possible version of the game [among consoles]. We have some dev kits which also load a lot faster. While in development it’s extra nice to load a giant world in a matter of seconds so we can iterate faster. But it will also have faster loading times for players.” – Bob Roberts, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Design Director, as quoted in GamesRadar+
“The experience of the game is the same across all of the different platforms. We try to make sure the game shines on every platform the best it can. Having said that, the Xbox One X version is absolutely the most beautiful version.” – Ashraf Ismail, Assassin’s Creed Origins Game Director, as quoted in WeWriteThings
“Bringing a PC game to Xbox, Microsoft makes it really easy…So it really just comes down to making the gameplay good. And especially on Xbox One X, two hours after we got the dev kit it was running at 4K, 60fps. That thing is very powerful. It was that easy. I think we were expecting it to take a little longer than that, but no, it was a cinch.” – Jonathan Rogers, Path of Exile Lead Programmer, as quoted in GamesRadar+
What else is new around the Xbox?
Even if you don’t choose to upgrade your console, you can now also design your own custom Xbox One controller at the Xbox Design Lab and have it sent to you once you’re done with the design and specification. The price of your unique controller will vary on the options you choose for it. It could be close to the normal price of an original Microsoft Xbox One controller or go up to $102.95 if you really choose all the coolest bits and pieces.
Isn’t that one just the most epic controller you’ve ever seen? Or build your own and post it below in the comments! 😉
