If you’re a regular Amazon customer, Keepa is an extension that will help you understand the price fluctuations on products from Amazon. Keepa can be downloaded as a browser extension to your web browser. Once installed, Keepa adds a history chart of prices for each product on the page and tells where the current pricing stands in relation to past pricing. You’ll know whether or not it’s currently worth purchasing a product if you keep Keepa installed, as you browse for products on Amazon.

Use Keepa and never overspent on an Amazon product again

The only thing you need to do in order to turn Keepa operational is to install the extension to your browser. It currently works on Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, and Safari. This doesn’t cover all browsers there are but the large bulk. If you’re not using one of these browsers, Keepa likely isn’t going to work for you. The extension is free and but there is also a premium access option with more options to handle big data, but as a regular consumer, you’ll likely not even notice that you’re “only” on the free tier.

The Keepa extension is a great way to save money on Amazon products and can be very useful in making sure you’re getting the best deal. It’s definitely worth installing if you frequently shop on Amazon. Keepa works not only in the US but also for the localized versions of Amazon in the UK, Germany, Japan, France, Canada, Italy, Spain, India, and Mexico. It’s available in the languages English, German, Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, and Chinese.

What else is interesting on Keepa? There are a lot of configuration options so you can alter how the plugin behaves. You could also import wishlists and make sure you keep track of the prices of all products on Amazon. Sometimes we just list down nice things we like but don’t need or want to buy right now, so for all of these it’s good to also set up a price drop alarm. Also, seeing how scarce some things are at times, like the supply chain issues for the new PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you can set up availability alerts as well and know when something is in store before the official Amazon email might hit you. Of course, some things like the insurance add-on of a product and other services would be unaffected by this, but there’s not much you can do about those.

Beyond supporting your normal user experience, you can also use Keepa to get a better understanding of daily deals and an overview of recent price drops for all sorts of products. Even though it’s not relevant for all, you could also use Keepa to compare the prices of products across the Amazon stores in various regions. If I can get something significantly cheaper in a neighboring country, and the shipping doesn’t add an overkill to the saving, why not simply order there? Your account is likely to work there as well, but the Prime membership is not included for other countries.

Keepa works fine on its own but the extension provides more convenience

However, the core feature of Keepa really is to simply display a chart on every product page so you can see the historic prices of the item right away. When an item was always 50 bucks and since yesterday it’s on 70 bucks, you might want to let it drop back to 50 again before you buy. Knowing this kind of price data is certainly giving you another kind of edge if you want to get the best prices on Amazon.

As far as security goes, you will not need to enter your Amazon account data into the app either, it just runs based on its own price database and does not need any personal data from yourself in order to work. As far as user ratings and reviews go, Keepa currently has 4.8 stars out of 5 stars based on the feedback of 4,648 users. only on the Chrome Web Store alone. On Chrome, this software is used by more than 2 million users.

No longer will you need to worry about dynamic pricing and buying a product at a bad time. Even if you’re not interested in the Keepa browser extension to monitor historic prices from Amazon products, you can also use their website to identify interesting deals. Keepa is a registered company in Germany and is managed by Julian Johann and Sascha Arthur. If you’re still unsure about how Keepa works, check out the demonstration and tutorial video below.
