The Vanishing of Ethan Carter received a BAFTA Games Award for Innovation, a 9/10 from Steam, an 8.5/10 from IGN, and an 81% from Metacritic. Game dev studio ‘The Astronauts’ really outdid themselves with this amazing first-person mystery game. It is one of those games that focuses a whole lot on the storyline but you have to discover the story on your own.
You play as Paul Prospero, a paranormal investigator. Ethan Carter is a child who sent you a letter and now you’re traveling around Red Creek Valley to look for him. The game really has a thrilling feel to it, but if you’re tired of all the mind-blowing revelations, you can just look up at the sky and breathe in.
The graphics in this game is top-notch and along with the story, this is going to be a great experience for you. I got to give it to The Astronauts, they are an indie game developer but this game looks as if thousands of people worked on it. I mean, the grass moves with the wind perfectly.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a horror game, but it’s not your typical jump scares, running away from ghosts in a dark place kind of horror. It will send chills down your spine as you go through the visual world they have created. The scenery will spook you out and everything is so detailed you’ll feel like it’s real life. That’s because of the development team’s effort in photorealism and photogrammetry.
The game is available to play on Microsoft Windows, which you can get on Steam. It is also available on your PlayStation 4. Check out the amazing team behind the game. Those are the same people, who previously worked on other games like Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Tell me what you think about it in the comments!
