When you think of lunchboxes, you often think about children bringing their food to school. Having a lunchbox is becoming more common because it lets people eat healthier in a more cost-effective way. According to Statista, the global lunchbox market will reach $5.96 billion by 2024.
The hurdle of having a lunchbox has always been its design and functionality of insulating the food properly, and there have been several solutions for this. One startup from Texas called SunnySide has created a lunchbox that uses solar power to heat food.

Heating lunchboxes made easier
SunnySide is a modern take on the lunchbox that aims to keep your food fresh with its multiple temperature options for up to 20 hours. You can control the temperature of your lunch which will show on the screen of the lunchbox. At full charge, the lunchbox can heat your food a total of seven times.
It has dual charging options. The first is through a USB-C cable that takes 2 hours to charge fully while the other is via the solar panel installed at the top. The solar panel keeps adding power into the battery system to keep the SunnySide lunchbox powered. The lunchbox has three fans and coolants to keep the food fresh. There are also induction coils to warm the food when needed. It has thick insulation that keeps it unaffected by the surrounding temperature for 20 hours.

Aside from that, the lunchbox has an accompanying Sunnyside app that shows the battery status of the lunchbox. It also allows you to manage the lunchbox by setting the temperature with a time duration. You can instantly heat or cool your food in minutes by simply giving directions through the app.
SunnySide is entirely dishwasher safe and comes with a smart app that doesn’t only assist you in keeping food fresh but also gives you healthy recommendations and tracks your calories. Additionally, it has a charging port of 10,000 mAh where you can even charge your phone.
Currently, SunnySide has been successfully backed on Kickstarter, exceeding its goal amount 10 times over with 9 days to spare. If you’re the type to bring a lunchbox to work or school, you can get the item starting at $69.
