Sometimes, people need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. One way to de-stress is to go on road trips. Of course, food and drinks are a must, though it could be quite a hassle to keep them fresh and cool while traveling. While traditional coolers are available on the market, some ice is needed to keep temperatures low, not to mention that coolers could also be bulky. ChillBee, a company that provides cooling solutions for travelers, created Roadchill to help keep refreshments cool on the go for Tesla owners.

Tesla fridge
Roadchill is a compact, built-in style car refrigerator and freezer system, designed to fit into a car’s side or trunk storage area. Its most interesting feature is that it’s a built-in car appliance — specifically, for a Tesla Model Y’s side trunk — which takes up minimal space at 428mm x 295mm x 612mm with 15L capacity. Beyond that, the cooler is battery-powered and acts like an actual refrigerator. It is able to keep everything perfectly chilled from 5°F to 68°F (-15°C to 20°C), storing meat, vegetables, and beverages.
When it comes to power, ChillBee touts the Roadchill’s ability to last a whole day without an external power supply. This cooler also has an LED display as well as a companion app to help users control the temperature and other settings easily. Aside from that, there is also a removable divider to help users organize food, and the wide lid design lets users easily add or remove items with just one hand. Users will also be notified whenever the fridge’s door has been left open longer than usual. The final model will function like a normal fridge, with a plug-and-play feature.

On-the-go fridge
Despite the seemingly very niche target market for Roadchill, there has been a lot on this. In fact, as of this writing, the Kickstarter campaign has reached over $40,000, well over its $10,000 goal with more than a week to spare. For those interested, the product will set you back at $249 for the super early bird promo with a 1-year warranty period. Add-ons like the power bank, foldable water bottle, and portable solar charger are available for purchase as well. For now, shipment of this chiller is slated for the end of June.
