Samsung Unveils Expansion in Gaming Services Leading Up to Summer Game Fest 2024

-

Samsung is no stranger to the global gaming scene, and the tech giant’s latest announcement promises to bolster its position as a key player. Ahead of this year’s Summer Game Fest, the Korean conglomerate has revealed plans to broaden access to games and enhance the gaming experience for its customers.

Samsung’s strategy to expand gaming ecosystem

In a decisive push to increase engagement across its range of smart devices, Samsung has unveiled new initiatives that focus on accessibility and ease for gamers. The release of two new titles, Rivals Arena and The Six, is set to change the playing field by allowing players to engage with games directly through their Smart TVs, using a straightforward TV remote or even a smartphone as a controller.

These introductions appeal to an emerging group of casual gamers looking for quick and accessible entertainment. For instance, Return Entertainment’s Rivals Arena leverages the simplicity of mobile phone interaction to draw players into a cinematic card game experience without requiring dedicated gaming hardware.

Partnership with Summer Game Fest

Reiterating its commitment to the gaming community, Samsung will once again become the official TV partner for the Summer For Game Fest. Following the live stream scheduled for June 7th, they plan to host Play Days featuring media and creators, demonstrating their ongoing investment in the sector.

Former Xbox and ex-Twitch staff member Mike Lucero,  now Head of Product Management for Gaming at Samsung, emphasizes the company’s dedication to breaking down barriers within gaming. By melding innovative hardware with player-centric services, the strategy is to build a robust gaming ecosystem that transcends traditional gaming paradigms. He shares, “Samsung has introduced game streaming to hundreds of millions of Samsung Smart TV, Monitor and Freestyle 2nd Gen Projector owners around the world,” and adds, “We’ve continued to invest in hardware innovations and introduced gaming services and initiatives like Samsung Gaming Hub to address pain points from players. We are continuing to expand our gaming offerings, listening to players and building better user experiences and gaming products.”

The Samsung Gaming Hub is positioned at the center of their gaming strategy. It was developed to unify hardware and software experiences. Powered by Tizen, the hub offers a comprehensive game streaming discovery platform that eliminates common annoyances such as storage constraints and the need for additional gaming devices. The service includes offerings from notable players in the cloud gaming space, such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and NVIDIA GeForce NOW. With added Twitch, Spotify, and YouTube Gaming integration, users can immerse themselves in a multifaceted gaming environment with minimal fuss.
