Eating healthy and nutritious food is essential for us to function properly throughout the day. With food being a fundamental physiological need, we need to be mindful of what we consume and put into our bodies. As with everything that has experienced technological advancement in the past few years, there are also a multitude of companies that create solutions to help monitor our food. One of those companies is Milerd Technologies and its EcoTracker.
At first glance, Milerd Technologies might be a newcomer to the market as it manufactures modern eco-safety devices such as electromagnetic field and radiation detectors. However, the company aims to provide food cleaning devices, ionizing radiation meters, electromagnetic radiation meters, and air quality monitors. If we look at it from a perspective of bringing technology and hygiene together, then it makes sense that the company has designed the EcoTracker to detect contaminants in food, water pH level, and total dissolved solids (TDS) level, Milerd Technologies has started its campaign for EcoTracker on Kickstarter.

Safety for different foods
Contaminated food can be caused by bacteria, chemicals, physical, and other factors. Consuming contaminated food may lead to illnesses and even death, depending on the gravity and nature of the contaminants. With EcoTracker, it aims to help users measure the levels of harmful contaminants in 60+ pre-calibrated products. By inserting the device into any product, it will indicate how safe the food item is.
What’s interesting is that EcoTracker keeps track of TDS, providing insight into the quality of water being consumed. A high concentration of TDS means there are potentially harmful contaminants, such as iron, manganese, sulfate, bromide, and arsenic. For drinking water, it’s important to maintain a neutral pH between 6.5 and 8.5 to ensure safety and taste. That being said, the device shows users the level of acidity or alkalinity by its capability to measure pH level in water.

The EcoTracker’s 6-point interchangeable probe allows sensors for different products. Contaminants and TDS sensor, along with pH sensor probes is available for $49 to $179, depending on the chosen package. Measuring 150mm in height, it can also easily fit in pockets. With an original goal of $5,000, the Kickstarter campaign has garnered more than $129,000 worth of pledges.
