With the Internet of Things (IoT) or the Internet of Everything (IoE) new products that are widely connected introduce security risk. Not only information security risk or the risk on breached privacy laws but risk to lives of humans. Of course technology is not the evil here, steel isn’t evil either even though it can be weaponized. Developers and manufacturers alike just need to be aware and mindful of security.
In this example a Jeep vehicle is hacked remotely. Just as Jeep needs to invest in the best possible brake technology they also need to make sure to have their control technology secured from possible access breaches by unauthorized people. This is just as important if you equip your vehicles with such control technology. Check the video from Wired below and judge for yourself.
