The Chinese developer IceSitruuna announced that their Metroidvania game set in an alternate universe, Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune will be available for Steam Early Access on December 15th at 7:00 (UTC).

Quick facts

  • Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune, an anime Metroidvania game, will join Steam Early Access on December 15 at 7:00 (UTC), for Windows.
  • The game is set in an alternate universe and features 2.5D fantasy backgrounds and cell-shaded characters.
  • Features include a diverse and personalized character progression system, advanced cell-shading technique, fast-paced combat system, beautiful scenery, and more.

Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune is an anime-inspired Metroidvania title that quickly earned itself plenty of entries on the wishlists of many users after its 2021 announcement on Steam. The developer now says that they are ramping up their efforts even further with the full launch of the game into Early Access. From what I can read and see it reminds me a bit of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night but this certainly doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Sound and visuals likely to hit hard

Dive into the captivating alternate universe of Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune and explore a riveting 2.5D fantasy setting with impressive cell-shaded characters. Meet charming characters, battle endless waves of untamed monsters, and experience an enthralling gaming world. With each monster having its own magical abilities, Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune could be interesting for anyone interested in games with character growth and customization of skills. Traverse through dark forests, deep chasms, flying islands, and cities to explore and collect resources while listening to incredible background music composed by iispkboy and lihao.

The opening of the game is full of thrilling escapades and amusing anecdotes between two girls, voiced by Shizuka Ito (Erza) and professional voice actors from renowned production companies such as Ken Production Company. The sound director for this game’s audio had experience with multiple projects for Capcom – you can expect an interesting audio experience. As players progress in their journey, they will uncover hidden secrets that shape a more serious narrative arc.
