While the full pc and console release of Fear the Wolves is planned for 2019, it has already been made available for Early Access through Steam for PC gamers. Early Access means that it’s somewhat playable but not yet the final product. As that’s the case, this kind of version is only distributed as a digital edition.
Fear the Wolves is what you get when you take everything from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and build a battle royale gameplay mechanic around it. How does it differentiate from genre giants such as Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG? Well, Fortnite is quite colorful and a bit cute. PUBG is somewhat neutral with its design and Fear the Wolves appears to be more mature, dark and postapocalyptic.
