XRAI Glass: See Life with Subtitles

-

Ever wondered what life would be like with real-time subtitles? XRAI Glass aims to do just that by bringing audio to readable text as a conversation is ongoing. The company promises to let people see subtitles, live translations, and more through the app with AR glasses.

Compatible with AR Glasses

The XRAI Glass can be downloaded on both iOS and Android and is powered by Augmented Reality (AR). Apart from subtitles, the app can also translate over 140 languages. Users can choose one of three plans available: Essentials, Premium, and Ultimate.

XRAI Glass’ Essentials plan is a free subscription that offers on-device transcription for 20 languages. Premium costs $19.99 monthly, offering 10 hours of standard cloud-enhanced transcription that promises faster and more accurate transcription. Meanwhile, the Ultimate plan is at $49.99 per month and is an all-you-can-speak plan. Both Premium and Ultimate plans offer personal AI assistant service and transcription for over 75 languages.

XRAI Glass is compatible with smart glasses such as XReal Air, which may be bought separately. Aside from an active subscription to the app, the user’s smartphone needs to have their AR glasses connected for everyday conversations to be subtitled. Users will be able to read the subtitles while wearing their glasses.

Hearing loss and deafness are caused by different factors which can drastically affect a person’s overall well-being. According to the World Health Organization, over 5% of the world’s population – or around 430 million people – require rehabilitation to address their hearing loss. Furthermore, it is estimated that over 700 million people will have that same problem by 2050. That being said, XRAI Glass aims to support the deaf and those hard of hearing by providing an eyeglass that translates speech into subtitles to make conversations more inclusive.
