The new year is almost upon us, which means that the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is just around the corner, and we’re very excited to get our hands on it. Here are just some of the many reasons why you, too, should be excited for it as the game dives into the Hisui region.
Exploration and crafting
Exploration is a big part of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, making it play differently from every game that has preceded it. In this new release, players will sneak around trying to stay hidden so they can get the drop on wild Pokémon.
Manually aiming an empty Pokéball at wild Pokémon will allow you to try and catch the monster. Alternatively, players can initiate a battle by throwing a Pokéball containing one of their Pokémon. There will also be a day and night cycle with the game, promising different Pokémon being active during each period.

Riding Pokémon and crafting
You technically can already do this in the older games as some HMs such as surf would let you ride the Pokémon around on the water. However, Pokémon Legends: Arceus turns that up to 11 by allowing players the option to ride certain Pokémon, taking in the environment around them as they do. So far, we only know of three Pokémon that players can ride: Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and Hisuian Braviary.
Another addition to this entry will be crafting. So far, we know that you will be able to craft different kinds of Pokéballs, but we have not received much more information about this system as yet.

The battle system
First off, battles will no longer take you to a new screen; instead, the transition from exploring to battling is made seamless for Pokémon Legends: Arceus. That is far from the only change as now some sections will see the player having to do things such as dodging attacks. The game has also revamped the stat system that we have seen in past entries, giving Pokémon the ability to attack multiple times in a turn, depending on their stats.
Additionally, there are now two attack options available when you perform every attack: Strong style and Agile style. Strong style reduces your speed but makes your attacks hit harder so you can do massive damage. Meanwhile, the Agile style reduces the strength of your attack but boosts your speed so you can potentially strike before your opponent does.

There are more things to look forward to this game, but you have to wait until Pokémon Legends: Arceus gets released on January 28, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch. Until then, we just have to wait and see what players and long-time fans of the franchisee feel about these new changes to the game. For now, you can feed your appetite for Pokémon by playing the MOBA, Pokémon Unite.
