Draw Distance has recently published its fifth installment of Vampire: The Masquerade, the Coteries of New York. For those unfamiliar with it, this is a video game set in a fictionalized, gothic version of the modern world. Players take the role of vampires and deal with their character’s struggles. The game currently has five installments, with the Coteries of New York being the latest one.
The game presents the conflict between two vampiric factions, known as the Camarilla and the Anarchs, taking place in New York City. The player, as a newly-fledged vampire, must learn what it means to be a vampire in a huge city. Players will meet other vampires, regular mortals, thin-bloods, and much more.
Gameplay
The game’s setting is visually appealing with its New York landscapes. Sometimes these landscapes feel a little repetitive, but it’s still very pleasing to look at because of its high-quality. In this game, different types of characters can be found, and they vary from classic Dracula-styled vampires to tracksuit-wearing town vampires.
The gameplay includes choosing dialogue options to follow narratives. The first thing you have to do is to choose your vampire clan. There are three available clans to choose from – Toreador, Brujah, or Ventrue. Each clan has access to unique powers and ethical dilemmas that can be activated through the dialogue options.
After choosing your clan and facing the true horrors of the game, Coteries of New York will assign you a mission. Your mission is to recruit followers to assist you in the main narrative while managing your hunger.
Humanity vs. natural instinct
The game aims to test your morality, forcing you to take part in a struggle for power between rival factions. While playing this game, your view of human nature will be tested.
You will have to keep track of your hunger levels or the Beast inside you will take over your character. The choices that you will make in this game will ultimately affect the game’s finale.

According to the players, the new installment is not that much impressive as the Bloodlines series of this game. However, it is still decent for the price that start’s at around $8 on Steam.
The Coteries of New York is a great addition to the digital world of Vampire: The Masquerade, which offers an energetic atmosphere in the city that never sleeps.
