The Solis-X solar rechargeable lighter is a product that has been in the making for a while now. The team behind it has been working hard to make sure that it is perfect before they launch the Indiegogo campaign tomorrow. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a prototype and test it out. In this article, I will tell you all about my experience with the Solis-X and what you can expect from the upcoming campaign.
Ready for a solar rechargeable lighter? Enter Solis-X
At first glance, the Solis-X looks like a regular lighter but it’s not like an arc lighter. It is small and compact and fits easily in your pocket or bag. What really sets it apart from other lighters, however, is that it is solar-powered. This means that you never have to worry about running out of fuel again – just place the lighter in sunlight to recharge it.
The ZED Q team, from Zagreb, Croatia, behind the Solis-X, has put a lot of hard work into perfecting the design and functionality of this innovative product. When I tested out the prototype, I was impressed with how well it performed. It lights up instantly when you press down on the ignition button and provides enough heat to set something on fire. Even if you want to use it outside, it’s basically windproof, and even directly blowing on the ignition spot, I couldn’t manage to put the “flame” out – Definitely useful if you’re in the wilderness trying to start a campfire in bad weather.
Gadgety cool but easy to use
Plus, it is incredibly easy to use – even for someone like me who is not very familiar with lighters. The Solis-X Indiegogo campaign will launch tomorrow and I can’t wait to see how well it does. If you’re looking for a reliable and eco-friendly lighter, be sure to check out the Solis-X. While you should naturally pay attention not to touch the arc, one of our testers had a little accident, but next to a tiny shock, nothing else happened to them.
There might be similar lighters that use this sort of technology for ignition, but this is the only one that I found that had a photovoltaic panel on the side, so it could be freely recharged with only sunlight. I like how this means that you can simply leave it near the window and it will always have enough power that you’ll need. If you’re looking for swag as a company for gadgets that you can engrave and give to your clients, this would also make for a nice giveaway to emphasize your focus on sustainability.
The campaign starts tomorrow
But the Solis-X is not only for smokers. Another interesting aspect is how this could be used for BBQ, camping, hiking, or for anybody who might not be a fully-fledged prepper but people who have an interest in products and solutions that support living off the grid. Other than that, you can also charge the lighter with a USB cable, just in case you need to get the battery charged up quickly.
The early bird package of their Indiegogo campaign, going live on the 15th of November, lets people buy a unit of the Solis-X solar lighter starting at $26. While that might not appear very cheap instantly, I still thought that this is a fair price for a gadget with these design points and features. They aim for $16.890 in this campaign and right now I am confident that they can achieve this goal with a product like this.
