Positive Grid Wants to Empower Musicians with Guitar Amp Tech and Apps

-

When people express themselves artistically, having the right tools to create art is important. As people evolve their tastes in the arts, so do the necessary tools. Think of musical instruments; although musicians today still use traditional instruments, many of these have gone through an evolution over numerous years. One example is the humble acoustic guitar turning into the electric guitar we know today.

Of course, with all these changes in musical instruments, there would also be a change in how music is produced. Now, there’s a marriage of technology and music wherein people can create different beats with their laptops or phones to accompany them as they play. Positive Grid, a company dedicated to creating new music solutions, does just that.

Creating new music

Since 2013, Positive Grid has aimed to “introduce a new music creation experience into simple apps and empower any interested musician to participate.” To achieve that, they’ve worked with a team of musicians, engineers, and the like to create different tools that use technology to help empower musicians to create music. Here are just some of the offerings they have in their lineup.

Spark CAB

Positive Grid’s Spark CAB is the latest in their roster of guitar amps. This simple amp stands at almost 20 inches and weighs around 29 lbs., but don’t let its simple look fool you. The amp prides itself on delivering sounds at a studio recording level and can paired up with any type of guitar with its full audio range of 45-20,000 Hz. This means that guitarists can plug in an acoustic, electric, or bass guitar to it with a full-range flat response.

The Spark CAB can also be used with others from Positive Grid, such as the Spark MINI. It can also act as a power source since it has a DC and USB-C power output. However, while it can support different amp types, it can’t be used with traditional amps. Other than that, the amp promises to produce professional-level sounds at a price of $299.

Bias FX 2

The Bias FX 2 is Positive Grid’s award-winning amp and effects software that is compatible with both Mac and PC. The software boasts of an extensive library of tones – over 50,000, in fact. With a range of vintage amps to modern ones, their list is only growing bigger. Not only do users have a variety of tones, the software allows users to shape and customize the tone they want and even share it with other users.

Another feature that Positive Grid integrated into the Bias FX 2 that made it special is its hyper-realistic emulation of legendary guitar models with Guitar Match. It’s not just the guitar sounds; they also have a collection of pedals so musicians can customize their dream pedalboard. The software has three plans, with the Standard plan at $44.
