The advent of automation and robotics has changed how many industries and companies do their workflows. It has led to faster processes, more production, and standard outcomes that also paved the way for more meaningful job opportunities for people. The acceleration of robotics has made inventions such as home assistants, automated cleaners, and modular arms a reality. So it’s no surprise that there’s a robot that can do deliveries to your doorstep.
During CES 2022, Ottonomy has unveiled its fleet of autonomous robots called Ottobots that can deliver indoors and outdoors. Typically, this would be very efficient in restaurants and other food chains that are regularly engaged in delivery. The robot would navigate the map to get to its destination and automatically deliver your items to your doorstep. Apart from door-to-door deliveries, this robot can also do internal deliveries as well which can be helpful, especially for facilities with a wide area.
How the Ottobots work
The Ottobots would first familiarize themselves with the area and create a map within their system so they could use it when it delivers orders that may come. Its proprietary software from Ottonomy also enables the robot to move around crowded places without losing track of the target location. This also means that it is flexible enough to navigate in any geographical location, whether it’s within a building or to a house a few blocks away — as long as it is within its internal map.

To jumpstart the use of the Ottobots, Ottonomy has partnered with robotic management company ARO to assist in the rollout of the autonomous robot, as well as with other management support that is needed to make it a success. They have also partnered with CVG Airport and Presto in North America to start delivery services. By innovating the way things are delivered internally and externally, this autonomous robot can definitely help in speeding up processes and ensure safety from any contact, especially as the world hopes to move towards a post-pandemic era.
