Beijing, China, May 30, 2018 — During the HP Gaming Festival in Beijing, Omen representatives revealed the new gaming line-up including the new Mindframe headset with active cooling features. While the retail price is still unknown, the release date is set to be roughly in the second half of the year.
Many gamers feel the heat, literally, when they are playing games. There’s even more steam when you’re playing online with others and need to wear a headset to communicate and coordinate with your team. Beneath a thick fabric, your ears can feel uncomfortably hot after a while, and this doesn’t help the performance either, in case you’re playing a competitive game.
Mindframe headset to keep you chilled
Omen by HP, stylized as “OMEN,” is Hewlett-Packard’s brand to supply gamers and eSports customers with gadgets and gear. The new HP Omen Mindframe headset features active cooling technology inside the earcup to keep you fresh on your chair, when it get’s hot in the game.
The new Mindframe headset is planned to hit the stores in the second half of 2018, which could mean starting in a month if you’re optimistic about this release date. Unfortunately, the retail price has not yet been disclosed. The currently available OMEN 800 headset is sold for about $80, so some might assume that the Omen Mindframe will be at least a little bit more expensive than that to make up for the cooling function.
With the Mindframe headset, they wanted to offer gamers a comfortable product that also comes with a new kind of thermoelectric cooling which is likely superior at cooling the wearer if compared to passive cooling gel material.

The other features are visuals. The Omen gear looks nicely designed and stay in the same style across the product portfolio with red and black elements. Of course, no Omen product is complete without the iconic tribal mask icon which is here on the outside of the earcups. When you’re not gaming on your PC, you can also use the USB 2.0 Type-A connector to plug into other media devices.
