They are not giving away too much info about this new product as of now, as they are saving the key facts for the unveiling at the CES. The beer brewing system is going to be called LG HomeBrew and that’s exactly what it is.

Transform capsules into craft beer, even with an app

The capsule-based processing allows for a very simple procedure for one to try brewing their own craft beer at home. The capsules contain malt, yeast, hop oil and flavoring, so the users will be able to try out all kinds of recipes. It will also come with a free companion app available on iOS and Android. This new product will be part of the LG SmartThinQ product family.

It might not offer as many options as competition such as the PicoBrew, but it might be a little bit more user-friendly, especially to those who might want to try out home-brewing but have no idea about the subject matter. One could compare it to the way of preparing espressos at home with these little espresso capsules that used to be a Nespresso exclusive. We are keen to see more of it soon.

Leadership opinion

Song Dae-hyun“LG HomeBrew is the culmination of years of home appliance and water purification technologies that we have developed over the decades,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Homebrewing has grown at an explosive pace but there are still many beer lovers who haven’t taken the jump because of the barrier to entry and these are the consumers we think will be attracted to LG HomeBrew.”

In order to compare it with other solutions, one key aspect, of course, would be the pricing of the LG HomeBrew, but this has, next to the actual technical specifications, not yet been disclosed. If you happen to be at the CES, you might want to check them out from January 8-11 at booth #11100 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
