Wearable smart devices are common nowadays; in fact, smartwatches have become one of the most popular wearables today. Tech giants like Apple and Samsung have lines of smartwatches from which one can choose. Aside from making a fashion statement, they also provide insight into the wearer’s health. But could there be another form factor? Smart rings failed before to succeed, but why not try again?

Then again, not everyone is fond of wearing a watch. Situations like extreme outdoor activities may crack the watch’s screen, and even sleeping with a watch may irritate the wearer and interrupt their slumber. For those who want to get the benefits of tracking their health without needing to wear a smartwatch, a smart ring is the next best thing. KUURA, a company from Finland, is just one of the companies in the market that provide this with the Kuura Ring.
Focus on comfort and health tracking
Claimed to weigh just 3 grams, the small Kuura Ring is made of hypoallergenic materials. The ring can easily go with any outfit with its sleek outer design. It can reportedly measure over 20 biometric signals, such as temperature and stress levels. Apart from that, it can also monitor oxygen levels, as well as the wearer’s heart and recovery rate.

Like a typical smartwatch or other wearable smart devices, the Kuura Ring claims that it can keep track of a wearer’s physical activities, such as step count and workout sessions. Users can also rest easy in case they want to take a dive wearing the ring as it is water resistant. Sleep analysis for better sleeping habits is also included in the device’s features. Its rechargeable lithium battery lasts 4-6 days, which is a good amount of time for using the ring without interruptions.

The Kuura ring is available in sizes 6-13 (US size) in three colors: black, gold, and silver. It also comes with a companion app that can be downloaded on both Android and Apple devices. Currently, the smart ring has achieved its goal on Kickstarter, receiving more than $200,00 worth of pledges out of the $10,000 goal. With more than 20 more days left, interested backers can still opt to support the product and get a ring starting at $129. Mass production and shipping worldwide will begin by July 2024. Will the pledgers be yet once more disappointed if this new smart ring will not work fine once they receive it? That’s the Kickstarter bet.
