On the 28th of January 2016 IBM has announced their plans to acquire digital marketing and creative agency Resource/Ammirati to address demand for advanced customer experience in Armonk, New York. This is IBM’s first acquisition in that industry and will help building the IBM Interactive Experience (IBM iX), which is planned to be the largest global digital agency.
The acquisition of Resource/Ammirati means that 10,000 people are going to join the workforce of IBM iX. That’s a tall increase for the current staff of 1,000. This is a vital step, considering the recent demand in the business, to help IBM cope with client requests and to deliver services without reduction of quality. Beyond just fulfilling the entrepreneurial due diligence, the large amount of additional staff will also allow to prepare for near and mid-future term growth.

IBM is well-known for their computing technology products but they have diversified their product and service portfolio greatly and engaged in the markets to support partners with their digital transformation and modern means of communication. An acquisition price has not been disclosed yet.
