Funko Pop figures are beloved by many, and while you can buy a cast amount of figurines from all sorts of shows, games, and whatnot, the options for creating your own Funko Pop of yourself were not that inviting. I’ve seen a few of the people I follow on Instagram now create their own Funko Pop virtually with the help of AI. It’s a trend in a way, and I didn’t want to miss out, so I ventured out and had a look at how this can be done.
How do you generate your own Funko Pop figure with AI?
I tried this out first on my own with Midjourney and the Bing Chat from Microsoft but didn’t get the results I was looking for. But it’s not that complicated, to be honest. I found out that on the Image Creator of Microsoft Designer, there is a prompt template that everybody can use quite easily and get good results.

Of course, you can run the prompt as many times as you like to get the results you want, so it might not be perfect on the first run, but you’ll get there, and you can still adjust parts of the prompt to see how it affects the results. That’s not too difficult to manage, I’d say, even if you haven’t done much prompt engineering with AI image generation before.
Here are the steps you need to follow for your own digital Funko Pop figure of yourself
No worries, you’ll not need to download anything, and the steps are rather straightforward, but just for completeness’ sake, you can find the links and details below.
- Go to the Microsoft Designer website and log in with your Microsoft account.
- Use the prompt template for Funko figures. It will load up a prefilled prompt but let you edit some values to personalize the results.
- Enter your description in the prompt field. Be as specific as possible. For example, you might enter: “Funko figure of a [male], smiling, called [Your Name], wearing a [black henley t-shirt], a [canary yellow hoodie], a [black leather jacket], [black ripped jeans] and [white Adidas trainers with black stripes], [shaved head] and [shaved beard]. The Funko is displayed inside and outside a limited edition [green and yellow] Funko box with [Your Nickname] text, allowing visibility of the figure, typography, 3D render. [White] background.” But adjust as you like and check the results later.
- Click on the ‘Generate’ button. The AI will take a few seconds to process your request and generate your personalized Funko Pop figure.
- Save your design. Once you’re satisfied with the result, you can save the image to your device. Repeat until you’re happy with the results.
Results
Let’s have a look at how that works and what the results are like. I filled out the prompt template in a few ways but found that the following got the most accurate results.

But worry not; you can adjust any and all of these or wreak havoc and edit the whole set of values in the prompt editor using the button in the lower left corner. Here are some results of what I came up with when creating a mini-me in Funko Pop style.

These might not be perfect, but you could always touch them up or edit them a little in Photoshop or other apps that let you edit images.
What if you want to go physical?
There is a “Pop! Yourself” self-service website from Funko, which gives you the option to create your own figure and then purchase it as a physical piece and not just a digital image. For about 30 USD, you can attempt that, but I found that the options there give the users not enough options to recreate themselves truly, but you can still have a look at it if you want.
Try for yourself
This novel trend shows how technology can enhance fan engagement and create a more personalized experience. It underscores the potential of AI in design and creativity, opening up new avenues for self-expression in the digital space. So why not give it a try? You might find your next favorite hobby. Remember to share your creations on Instagram using the #AIFunkoPop hashtag to join in on the fun and see what other Funko Pop fans are creating.
