Haut.AI’s SkinGPT Aging Model to Simulate Skin Aging

-

Often, we try to imagine what our future would look like. Even the way we see ourselves, we try to speculate how much our physicalities would change after a decade. These days, there are fun filters for that, but with the current climate of being more health-conscious, it takes more than just a filter to see what we look like in the future. This is where an Estonia-based company called Haut.AI comes in.

Recently, Haut.AI has announced its SkinGPT’s Aging Model and its integration with health app Noom. The model can simulate up to 40 years of skin aging. Furthermore, it can simulate skin aging under various lifestyles and environmental conditions, enabling users to make more informed and healthier choices.

Better choices for a better future

Haut.AI’s partnership with Noom led to the launch of the feature in the app called “Future Me” which showcases the capability of the SkinGPT Aging Model. This feature offers users a look on how their decisions can directly shape their appearance in the far future. When using the feature, users can see two versions of themselves: one shaped by unhealthy habits and the other shaped by healthy choices with diet, exercise, and skincare. According to the AI company, this was created to inspire people to take better actions today for a healthier tomorrow with recommendations from their app.

The underlying technology using SkinGPT allows the model to predict a user’s perceived age, allowing for precise results. It also preserves the facial identity of the user to ensure the most accurate prediction. Haut.AI has trained on large datasets, promising to deliver fast and realistic results in a few seconds. With the model, they aim to transform customer health education, simulate anti-aging ingredients with skincare, and help in complex dermatological science.

SkinGPT in action

To test out the SkinGPT model, I took the Noom app’s “Future Me” feature for a spin to find out how well the technology works. After downloading the app, it had me register my details and other information. Putting the other features of the app aside, I focused on the Future Me feature. Currently, the model is available on the free tier of the app.

The Future Me feature asked me a few questions, then scanned my face for analysis. Within less than a minute, it showed me two possible looks: one wherein I had healthy habits, and one where I don’t. Overall, it was very quick and easy to use, but I honestly expected more from the groundbreaking model they were promising. Personally, I don’t think the results were accurate with the given face scan. It doesn’t even look like me at all, using the photo taken in the app.

While it’s a great idea to inspire users with healthy habits, it might be that the SkinGPT Aging Model or the implementation needs more of a dataset. Again, this is just based on my experience; it might work better depending on the subject. Perhaps the implementation used in Noom is not the full-featured one that the model is capable of.

With all of the AI integration we see all around in the tech sphere, health might be one of the potential novel applications of the technology. Despite the result I got in the Noom app, SkinGPT has a lot of potential for future applications. I’m certainly looking forward to a future where AI can help with health predictions.
