This innovative design by TU Delft might change the landscape of ambulance and first aid services. The Ambulance Drone could carry medical equipment such as an automated external defibrillator (AED), medication, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or other gear based on the type of usage along with direct communication to on-site layman helpers.
Their prognosis is to increase successful AED usage from the current 20% up to 90%, therewith saving the life of many people who happen to suffer from a cardiac arrest (often mistaken for a “heart attack”). The Ambulance Drone is a great example how design and technology can be combined to solve problems in the real world and not only serve our entertainment.
