‘Destiny: Rising’ Arrives on Mobile Today

-

NetEase Games (Diablo Immortal, Naraka: Bladepoint), in collaboration with Bungie (Oni, Halo, Destiny), has launched Destiny: Rising, a new mobile entry in the popular sci-fi looter shooter franchise. The game is now available for download on both Android and iOS devices as of today, August 28th. This release marks the first time the Destiny universe has been officially adapted for mobile platforms.

For those planning to jump in, a word of advice: prepare for a substantial download. The game requires a significant amount of storage space for its initial installation and subsequent asset downloads. To avoid a lengthy wait when you are ready to play, it is a good idea to start the download over a stable Wi-Fi connection ahead of time. This ensures all necessary game files are on your device, allowing for a smoother first experience.

Finally, a new experience?

Destiny: Rising is a free-to-play sci-fi RPG shooter set in an alternate timeline within the Destiny universe. It offers a new narrative that explores a period before the establishment of the Tower and the rise of the Guardians. The gameplay includes a mix of single-player, co-op, and competitive multiplayer modes. Players will find familiar elements, such as raids and PvP, alongside new mechanics, including a gacha system for unlocking a roster of 13 launch characters.

The game also features controller support and crossplay between Android and iOS users. To mark the launch, a crossover event with Destiny 2 is active, allowing players to earn rewards in both titles by participating. This new mobile title aims to provide a distinct yet familiar experience for fans of the franchise. Since it’s free, you can all test it out yourself and see if it keeps you busy or gets uninstalled after only a brief appearance on your smartphones.
