The sensation of free-falling can be scary, but it brings a rush that no other activity can provide, which is why thrill-seekers love it. However, activities like bungee jumping aren’t exactly something you can do easily and cost more than your average activity, and that’s excluding other psychological factors like being afraid of heights. However, for those who are not yet ready to take the leap, a Japanese company called Logilicity has designed a new virtual reality (VR) attraction — Anywhere Bungee VR — for those who want to experience it without actually falling off a cliff.
Adrenaline rush without the risk
As the name suggests, Anywhere Bungee VR mimics the thrills of bungee jumping through VR. Instead of an actual jump from a high place, participants use a VR headset and a patent-pending specialized motion platform where the user is strapped. Once the simulation starts, the participant is then flipped over as they “fall” in VR to complete the experience. It’s the perfect option for those seeking a high-intensity experience in a controlled environment. The virtual leap can feel like an actual jump from iconic landmarks like the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
Currently, Anywhere Bungee VR can be found in major observatories in Japan, like Tokyo Tower and Abeno Harukas. The company is actively looking to build international partnerships to boost its expansion and reach people through observation towers, theme parks, and entertainment venues around the world.
Jumping into the fray
Last month, Anywhere Bungee VR was showcased during the Augmented World Expo (AWE) USA 2025, an event focused on the extended reality (XR) industry. Here, people got to enjoy a special preview edition of the VR bungee jump experience. It was also able to win the Best in Show Playground during the Auggie Awards.
Since 2010, more than 5,000 companies and 60,000 professionals have turned to AWE to learn, connect, and expand their presence in the XR ecosystem. For Logilicity’s Anywhere Bungee VR, it may be just one in the pool of promising products and services presented at the event, but it is also a plunge towards expansion.
