Using zoetropes to create the illusion of an animated picture goes back to Simon Stampfer’s work of 1833. Think that’s quite a while ago? Think again, because, in the area that is nowadays known as Iran, they already had bowls that could be considered the predecessor of those from the nineteenth century.
4-Mation is a new kind of 3D zoetrope which lets you and even your kids create stunning animations of real objects not just on a computer. This is definitely something for every STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) class or related efforts in education. What do you think about this one? If you want to buy your own, check out the official project site on Kickstarter here.
