Netflix announced last year that they were making a series from the story of The Witcher. Since then, we’ve been treated to bits and pieces, but now we finally get an actual trailer to this anticipated show.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is known for working on Daredevil and The Umbrella Academy will be handling the series. While the title itself is usually associated with CD Projekt Red‘s game, The Witcher will not be based off the game but the original novel series from Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
The Witcher features an all-star cast playing out well-known characters of the series. This includes Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Anna Shaffer as Triss, Freya Allan as Ciri, and of course Henry Cavill who plays as Geralt of Rivia.
A Taste of Netflix’s The Witcher
Netflix treats us to what The Witcher series will be with its first trailer shown off during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer starts with a very well-built Geralt who is, to the dismay of some fans, unfortunately not in a bathtub. Some magical creatures are also shown such as elves and familiar monsters, with one of the shots featuring what seems to be a bloody claw of an alghoul.

Aside from the expected action and magic, the trailer shows us a bit about the story’s setting called The Continent and its politics. In the last shot, we see a creature that is apparently a kikimore rising out of the water and an ill-looking Geralt.
Finally some snaps from #TheWitcher to get a better feeling for the upcoming @Netflix show featuring Henry Cavill as #GeraltOfRivia, Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg. What do you think about the cast? pic.twitter.com/LBzkyHg7ar

There are a lot more details to be pointed out in the trailer but I’ll leave that up to you guys, especially those who have read the books. Netflix has had a pretty solid set of originals so I expect big things from this series. The visuals are evidently captivating and I hope it lives up to the hype it is getting.
Netflix’s The Witcher may not be based on the game, but that doesn’t stop my gamer heart from getting all excited for the characters to come to life. The first season is slated to be released around the latter portion of this year. You can watch the official trailer of the series down below.
