The New DJI Mavic Air 2 Takes Flight

-

Chinese company DJI has developed its next-generation drone to follow the success of Mavic Air that debut 2 years ago. Introducing the new DJI Mavic Air 2, with increased flight capacity, new photographic functions, and all-around enhanced features. This drone is, by far, the smartest drone made yet.

Small but powerful

The Mavic Air 2 measures at small 183 x 253 x 77mm when unfolded and just 180 x 97 x 84mm when folded. This makes for a streamlined and compact design that can be easily carried inside your backpack.

Its powerful battery provides up to 34 minutes of constant flight. That’s 14 minutes more than its predecessor. It also makes use of OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology instead of Wifi. This can transmit videos up to from a distance of up to 10km, letting you view the world from where you’re standing.

Capturing capabilities

The Mavic Air 2 offers high-quality image and video capture, shooting stunning and dynamics views. It has a half-inch Quad Bayer sensor located behind a fixed 28mm f/2.8 lens to capture 12-megapixel photos by default. Aside from that, this drone has a preprogrammed scene detection mode made specially to capture any kind of environment, from snowy mountains to rocky terrains.

You might be thinking that the video quality might’ve been sacrificed for a longer range, but that’s not the case here. The Mavic Air 2 has a video performance up to 4k 60fps at a bit rate of 120 Mbps, and it can transmit at 1080p at 240fps even at 10km away.

Flight precautions

This drone has a special FocusTrack function which allows you to not only select a target to be tracked in the air but also automatically establish flight routes. This helps recognize and avoid obstacles mid-flight with its front and rear anti-collision sensors equipped with APAS 3.0 technology.

The Mavic Air 2 also comes with auxiliary lights and additional lower sensors to facilitate landing. It also incorporates DJI’s GEO System to keep the drone away from high-risk locations, making sure that you fly your drone safely.

The DJI Mavic Air 2 drone is available in two bundles. The standard package, which is ideal for amateur pilots, costs $799 and comes with one battery, the remote controller, and all the required accessories. If you want to do longer shoots, then the Fly More bundle might be better for you. This includes all of the same items as the standard package, plus neutral density filters, a charging hub, two extra batteries, and a shoulder bag for $999. You can order the drown now.
