Spotify Gets Social: In-App Messaging Is Here

-

For music and podcast lovers, streaming platforms like Spotify are a necessity to accompany them while at work, in the gym, or on an errand run. This month, Spotify launched a new feature that allows users to share and connect more with others. Spotify Messages is available to Free and Premium users aged 16 years old and above in select markets on mobile devices.

New way to share content

Spotify Messages is a new built-in app feature that allows users to send songs, playlists, audiobook recommendations, and more. This latest interactive feature lets users share their favorite tracks or albums with friends or create group chats focused on a specific artist or album.

What sets Spotify Messages apart from other messaging apps is its focus on bringing people together using its massive music, audiobooks, and podcasts library. It provides ease and accessibility in sharing the tracks and audiobook topics users want to talk about. Instead of cross-sharing or copying links, a quick exchange of ideas can be made entirely within the app. When listening to a song, podcast, or audiobook in the Now Playing View, tap the share icon, select a friend, and hit send. In addition to sharing music and podcasts with friends, Spotify Messages also provides fans with an opportunity to interact with their favorite artists. For upcoming independent artists, they can reach out to a wider audience and make genuine connections with potential supporters.

Beyond the beat

Users will have control over who can reach them, as they can accept or reject message requests. The platform also ensures safety by offering a report feature, in case someone is violating the terms. Spotify guarantees that there’s an industry-standard encryption in place to avoid information breaches and leaks. For those who are not interested in Spotify Messages and want to disable the feature, it can be tweaked in the app’s settings.

From improving mood to better memory, people enjoy listening to music no matter the reason or genre. Research shows that listening to music has many benefits. This can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain, as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory. With the official launch of Spotify Messages, users will be able to connect more through music and podcasts.
