Samson Sky Makes Flying Cars a Reality with Switchblade

-

One of the oldest predictions in the world of technology is that of the flying car. But that never quite became a reality. A survey from YouGov back in 2017 showed this prediction is still intact. In it, 24% of people said they believed flying cars would become possible in the next decade, while 23% said they believed it would happen within 30 years. While we have yet to achieve full in-air traffic, the 24% that said it would come within ten years are getting closer to being right with many new emerging projects—the latest being Samson Sky‘s  Switchblade flying sports car.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

When most people think of flying cars, they think of the design of a car taking flight. The actual definition is a vehicle that can work on land and air. Only a few years after the first airplane in 1903, many designs for flying cars were being patented. The definition was interpreted in many ways; a helicopter with wheels, a car with wings, even a car and a plane glued together. Of course, the modern interpretation isn’t as literal as it was before, but the dream of a flying car still lived on, hence the creation of Switchblade.

According to Samson Sky, Switchblade is the most sought-after flying car, with 2,300 reservations already spanning 57 countries. The company dreams of delivering a practical, usable vehicle that allows drivers to drive the flying car from their home to the airport, open its retractable wings, and go flying. It also uses unleaded auto gas so you can fuel it at any gas station. With a maximum driving speed of 201 km/h and a maximum flying speed of 305 km/h, the flying car tries to deliver on a dream so old it seemed impossible until now.

We are lucky to be born in an age where technological advancement comes so naturally. Not only are there still many modern flying car projects out there, but they are starting to get attention. Whether it is within this decade or 30 years, we may be able to see this sci-fi dream of flying cars come true after all.
