Phonotonic: Transform Motion into Music

-

What a time to be alive. With technology creeping into every pore of our daily lives, it’s not hard to imagine there are many various gadgets and apps that keep track of our movements. We all know, and many of us use Fitbit, a gadget that tracks our physical activity, so it could help us become and stay fit. But what if you had a gadget that not only ‘senses’ your movement, but also produces music with your every move? Sounds too much like sci-fi? Well, it’s not. Please welcome Phonotonic to the stage.

What is Phonotonic exactly?

Phonotonic Dancing Gadgets Motion Music Fun Device Startup Front View AppIn the words of its creators, “Phonotonic is a new musical experience thanks to a motion sensor and an app which creates and control the music.” So there you have it, it’s basically an interesting-looking gadget that you hold in your hand, and it senses your motions. It then sends the information via Bluetooth to an app which turns those movements into sounds, i.e., music.

Be the life of the party and compete with your friends in creativity with the help of this smart object. Heck, why not just place the sensor on any object in your environment, like maybe a Roomba, and turn it into a musical instrument?

In case you were wondering, yes, you can connect more than one sensor to the application. In fact, the creators of this cool gadget recommend using two sensors, one for the melody and the other for the rhythm. With one Phonotonic, you can choose whether you want to play only the melody, only the rhythm, or melody and rhythm at the same time. That said, for now, you cannot connect more than two sensors at the same time, as the app could become confused.

For now, users cannot integrate their own music. Instead, all the music available is created by artists the company works with, and it is pre-programmed into the application. Should you choose to buy this gadget, you will need to regularly update your app so you could get all the newest tracks available, along with new features.

You assign the rhythm and the melody to your sensor directly through the app.
