OnePlus Confirms Nord 2 5G Smartphone

-

OnePlus has confirmed yesterday that the successor to the Nord is real, in an announcement made by the company’s CEO and founder, Pete Lau, in a blog post in the OnePlus forum. The founder remarked on the success, both commercially and critically, of the original OnePlus Nord and expressed that this new aims at improving on its predecessor based on the feedback received from the OnePlus community and that it is a comprehensive upgrade from the first OnePlus Nord. This is the second released this year by the company after the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.

OnePlus confirms facts about Nord 2 5G but doesn’t unveil much

In fact, the device had been indirectly confirmed the day before, when OnePlus announced in the same forum that the Nord 2 will be powered by a MediaTek processor. The chip in question is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and OnePlus claims that they worked with MediaTek through their Dimensity Open Resource Architecture to push the limits of the processor and bring AI-based features to the Nord 2.

The Open Resource Architecture allows manufacturers to adapt their MediaTek chipsets to their specific needs, in the case of OnePlus they tailored it to maximize AI capabilities. OnePlus calls this new version of the processor the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI.  While OnePlus claims that this is their first device with a MediaTek chipset, the standard version of this processor is already used by a variety of devices from its parent company Oppo.

The company has not revealed the results of these improvements and the inclusion of AI. However, the blog post hints at AI-assisted imaging, display enhancements, better response times for gaming, and anything that can benefit from AI.

Besides that, little is known about the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. The company will officially announce the on July 22nd and for now, we will have to wait until then to find out more details about the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. Stay tuned as you we bring you the latest developments.
