More than half the population of the world is living in urban areas right now and the number is increasing. Some think that by the end of the decade, there will be five billion people found living in smart cities, which would be almost 15% more than previous estimates have predicted.
Enabling smart city solutions for all these inhabitants, or shall we say “users”, is a critical step. This will require skilled teams to run operations, fail-proof infrastructure as well as a good management system. Providing facilities and services to billions of people who come to new cities and live there to make a living – that’s quite the challenge. When smart cities are established, engineering is needed so that the latest technology can run with improved efficiency.
We are only at the first step of this journey
Mobile technology is a rather new form of technology and it’s used in most smart cities to manage communication with wireless devices. Usually focus on smart cities is on infrastructure alone, but in these times more equipment and devices are kept and used in newer cities built with technological breakthroughs. It might not be the single most important aspect, but it should also not be neglected.
Usually only individuals have a focus to use mobile technology (e.g. smartphones) to live in smart cities, communicate easily and quickly using mobiles and its related technology. Use of Wi-Fi in homes, offices, stores, and community centers is an attractive networking environment connecting endpoints to the Internet and if unavailable, 4G and 5G connection to communicate through the web with other locations.
Information and communication technology imparts a particular role important in making use and advance with breakthroughs with mobile technology in smart cities. It is an essential facility provided to those who are concerned with improving communication methods through specialized mobile tech that serves as an important ingredient in constructing the city, or upgrading it in a digital sense.
Communication is possible in three ways, either human to human, human to machine, or machine to machine. That could be considered to counts as modernized processes. Mobile technology is new and has made progress in the past decade to meet user requirements and has an increasing need for technology supply. An aim for smart cities is to shape up the complete system by making use of all resources in an automatically optimized way.
The role of mobile technologies in building future Smart Cities
The telecom industry has the following distinctions in it; telecom broadband & Internet tech, mobile telephony, networked IT services, monitoring and sensing as well as security, all carried out with use of mobile technology or at least utilized in an auxiliary way. The aspect that sheds light on the fact that there are certain new tech elements used through mobile technology at a higher level is when necessity comes in. This leaves room for scaling either way.
Costs imparted in a technological city are not always very high because it makes a beneficial difference to the city and has certainty in saving if used right. Network infrastructure is what smart cities depend on to make living and socializing a comprehensive and positive experience to have when being home in these smart cities.
Top Smart City Uses in mobile technology
Broadband and mobile connectivity are two main fields required with information and communication technology (ICT) used in smart cities. It is, therefore, possible that use of small cellular technology cuts down all the hassle required to communicate within smart cities with clarity and no distortion.
Mobile technology trends in Smart Cities
Internet communication and network usage is the main part of cities which have financial institutions as well as other business related locations in the city for people to communicate easier through the web. Websites, as well as taxi cab apps and others like grocery retailing apps, are a few of the mobile based applications that mobile technology brings to you and a positive influence when there is internet used to make a proper connection.
Smart Cities acceleration through mobile technology
A whole telecommunications facility is provided and controls all the mobile-based technology run in its vicinity. Highly customized apps make give user more control and effectiveness. This helps users to find their way around in a user-friendly experience. Like the Uber app used in many places but has a different way to deliver its experience in different locations (countries). It is impossible to call an Uber cab without the use of its online smartphone app to access and reach a new location in short time. This is a great example of how our live could look like in the future of the smart city.
Perhaps Uber was only the start. Perhaps in the future there will be no smartphones but different kind of endpoints for mobile technology to improve our day? We’ll live to see more of it (hopefully soon).
