Manage Stress with Apollo Wearable

-

American Psychiatric Association’s annual mental health poll found an increase in anxiousness among U.S. adults, from 37% in 2023 to 43% in 2024. WHO has defined stress as a “state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation.” It is usually triggered when one is going through a tough or challenging phase in life.

Everyone reacts differently to stress. Some are better at handling stress and pressure, while others struggle with it. While we still have a long way to go in treating mental health conditions, we have seen companies making improvements to medicine and tools for managing stress better. One company is Apollo Neuroscience’s Apollo Neuro with its Apollo wearable.

Apollo wearables as a stress relief tool

The Apollo wearable was developed by psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr. David Rabin, MD, PhD. When users are feeling stressed, this wearable tech sends soothing vibrations, called Apollo Vibes, that feel like “a warm hug or snuggling a pet.” These vibrations naturally enhance nervous system balance, which is disrupted by chronic stress and trauma.

Apollo wearable can be worn on the wrist, ankle, or anywhere in the body. It is a non-invasive way to lessen stress levels, provide better sleep, and improve focus. More than a biometric tracking device, Apollo Neuro conducted a study that found a significant heart rate variability (HRV) increase, resulting in up to 25% better cognitive performance under stress. People with higher HRV may have better cardiovascular and physical condition and tend to be more resilient to stress.

The Apollo Neuro app is available for both iOS and Android, making it easier for users to monitor their health. They can also customize the settings to prioritize a certain area, like sleep. The Apollo Wearable is available for $349.99 in four colors: Stealth, Twilight, Glacier, and Rose. Each order comes with a band and clip, so users can choose how to wear it.

Partnership with others

“Apollo is the only wearable device available that will modulate your heart rate variability to a higher level and put you in a meditative state without meditating. You’re calmer, you’re more relaxed, you’re able to focus,” says Dr. Joseph Maroon, MD, FACS, who is also Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Team Neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Medical Director of the WWE. You can imagine that if this can be useful in sports, it can be useful in other high-intensity work as well, which is what the company has done recently.

Wearable technology and modern digital tools have the potential to improve mental health and therapy efforts by providing real-time stress management and biofeedback, allowing individuals to monitor and adjust their emotional states proactively. Devices such as smartwatches and fitness trackers can integrate mindfulness and relaxation exercises into daily routines, making mental wellness more accessible and personalized. Furthermore, virtual reality and AI-driven platforms can simulate therapeutic environments, offering immersive experiences that enhance traditional therapy practices, thus broadening the reach and effectiveness of mental health interventions.
