Everyone seems to be connected 24/7 either via the internet or phone, but there are still communication barriers in the form of noisy surroundings and nosy co-commuters, among others. With the current trend of remote work setups today, the ability to take calls anywhere and anytime while maintaining privacy and without any noisy distractions is a must.
Understanding the need for privacy even in public spaces, CEO Stéphane Hersen and French tech lab researcher Frank Simon founded Skyted in 2021. Using aerospace technology, they created the world’s first “silent mask” to keep people connected without risking their personal privacy.
Turn any place into a private workspace
The Skyted mobility mask absorbs 80% of voice frequencies, canceling outside noises. In the same way, users can also prevent eavesdropping while making confidential calls using the mask. This is made possible by using a jet engine sound absorber called LEONAR from a French aerospace research center, ONERA. Noise absorption guarantees that no voice goes out and no outside noises do in the mask.

Users will be able to communicate with other people within the vicinity as Skyted comes with a speaker too. This action will mute communications going through the ongoing call, enabling users to talk freely with the people physically around them. In short, the user has control over what people around him get to hear while still being able to keep their privacy.
Additionally, Skyted users can access insights with the mask’s accompanying app. The app has a voice booster where users can adjust the volume of their voices. Without raising their voice, the app can help modulate the user’s voice to ensure clear and quality audio calls. Currently, the company offers three options for different scenarios: Mask’in Office, Mask’in Taxi, and High Confidentiality Masking.

As of this writing, Skyted is available as a Kickstarter campaign with over $120,000 pledged to the project. Mass production is set to start in May 2024, and local delivery is to begin this December. The project is still open for a few weeks, so if you’re interested, you can still support the product. You can avail of the mask starting at $299, which also comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a case.
