For photographers, vloggers, and artists, one thing can ruin a photo or video: lousy lighting. However, it takes time to set up a proper lighting system, especially when you are on the go. Even though ring lights may come in compact sizes nowadays, Blind Spot Gear has taken a step toward innovation with its new project, the LumiCard.
Portable lighting on the go
The LumiCard has 500 lumens capacity and claims to have up to 16 times more brightness compared to a phone’s built-in torch of 30-60 lumens. True to its name, the portable device’s size is similar to a credit card. Measuring 54mm x 85mm x 3mm and weighing 27g, it’s easy to slip it into pockets and wallets.

Shooting in the rain won’t be a hassle since the LumiCard is also waterproof. Aside from photography, the light can also be used for emergencies like blackouts. For workers and students, it can be useful as another light source for video call meetings. It can be charged and powered using a USB-C cord. The device also supports wireless charging and attaches to magnetic cases such as MagSafe.

LumiCard delivery planned for next year

While they do have photos of the product, these are LumiCard prototypes which means the final product may be subject to changes. Delivery is expected to start by May 2024. Blind Spot Gear will donate 4% of LumiCard’s profit towards causes they support. These include Re-Wilding Scotland to support forests and wildlife and Vocal Eyes for blind and visually impaired people to seek equal opportunities.
