Getac’s CommandCore Powers Remote Drones for Extreme Conditions

-

Getac, a company that specializes in rugged mobile tech and video solutions, has expanded its product line over the years, from durable laptops and tablets to software and body-worn cameras. Their products aim to support frontline workers, ensuring they can perform critical tasks effectively even in the most unpredictable environments. This month, the company announced the launch of its brand-new rugged drone control solution, CommandCore.

Less risk, more intel

The International Labour Organization reports that work-related accidents and diseases kill nearly 3 million workers every year. This data marks an increase of more than 5% compared to 2015, challenging organizations and private enterprises to provide better safety precautions and working conditions for their manpower. In answer to this demand, Getac’s CommandCore helps professionals control drones using durable computers and tablets. It’s built to handle extreme environments like battlefields, disaster zones, or remote utility sites, removing the need to go on dangerous sites.

Alongside the CommandCore is the Ground Control Station (GCS) that acts as the command center, processing data in real time while it keeps drones running smoothly even in harsh conditions. Users may select from various Getac devices tailored to specific GCS requirements. Options available are the ZX80 robust Android slate, UX10 durable Windows tablet, S510 semi-rugged laptop, B360 high-performance rugged notebook, and X600 heavy-duty workstation.

Solutions for quick response

Getac tailors CommandCore to missions in defense, military rescue, and utility work to help users run surveillance and missions across land, sea, and air. First responders can quickly gather information during floods, fires, or search-and-rescue operations. Engineers can inspect power lines, pipelines, and railways remotely, reducing the need to send crews into dangerous areas. Company president, James Hwang, believes that “As the use of drones becomes increasingly widespread throughout numerous industries around the world, demand for comprehensive remote-control solutions is also growing significantly.” While it may sound military-focused, the solution can potentially extend to daily services for faster, safer, and more efficient response. While most people won’t use it directly, it improves our day-to-day life by providing better emergency response, more reliable services, and reduced risk for workers.
