Nowadays, we have tons of new game releases to be excited about. This being the era of the remakes, we also have old ones remastered into new-looking games.
Square Enix has been working on a few remakes lately that will be released this month. Of course, we have the big guns like Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy VII. They’ve also reimagined the third installment of the Mana series, the 1995 classic Seiken Densetsu 3 also known as Trials of Mana.
Choosing your character
Trials of Mana is a classic role and action playing. The story is the same as it used to be: the Goddess of Mana managed to trap some evil creatures called Benevodons inside the Stones of Mana, thus save the world from the darkness that was coming.
Unfortunately, the forces of evil have become powerful enough to break this seal that kept them away from the outside. So, the main objective will be to recover the Mana Sword and defeat the evil creatures so that everything goes back to normal.
Before starting, the game lets us choose a group of three characters from the six that will be available to select. If you are not sure which hero you want to choose, Square Enix created a personality quiz for it. You just need to answer a few questions and you will be matched with the character whose personality is similar to yours.
I just did it and I got Riesz to play with. I totally loved it. If you do this quiz, you will also earn a special character avatar portrait to use on your Square Enix site. You can find full information about each character on the official Square Enix site.
Playing the game
The argument and place will change depending on the protagonist we choose. Also, each character has different abilities, weapons, magic, and we will also know which one is better at what, so we can try creating a balanced group.
If you played the old version you will realize that this remake has respected all the events and the order in which they take place. This new version brings great voice actors for each character. Meanwhile, the OST created by Hiroki Kikuta has been remastered, and the results are stunning.
However, one of the most amazing things about it is that now the graphics are completely in 3D. Each scene is now presented in a bigger way and full of details.
Free demo available now
A few weeks ago, they’ve published the last trailer of the gameplay and announced a free demo for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The demo starts at the actual beginning of the game when the protagonist meets other team members and chooses who will go along with him. You can even go as far as the battle against the boss Fullmetal Hugger.
One of the best things is that this demo version will allow you to pass the progress of the game to the final game once released. Have in mind that for Switch gamers, the demo is only available on the Japanese eShop. However, that version also comes in English and you can play it anywhere around the world. If you haven’t yet, you can download and play now before the game release on April 24th.
