Dell Teams up with Marvel Studios in “Ant-Man and the Wasp”

Dell’s new G series high-performance gaming laptops will play a leading role at the world premiere of Marvel Studios’ new movie “Ant-Man and the Wasp” this summer, the company has announced.

A Dell and Marvel partnership

In the words of guys and gals behind the hardware company, the two companies joined their hands to bring the excitement of technology closer to the wider audience through popular culture.

“We are thrilled to team up with Marvel Studios on Ant-Man and the Wasp and demonstrate the superpowers of technology. There are a lot of similarities between our brands and fan bases. For example, our goal is to empower our customers, from gamers to visual effects artists, with high-performance technology to drive human progress just like Ant-Man and the Wasp rely on tech to make the world a better place,” said Gerri Tunnell, Senior Vice President, Client Solutions Marketing at Dell.

Marvel Studios expressed enthusiasm as well:

“What’s great about this partnership is that it allows our on-screen tech to become a bit more tangible to viewers. We might not be able to replicate Hank Pym’s advancements quite yet, but we hope that the film inspires people to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible just like our heroes do,” said Mindy Hamilton, Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships & Marketing.

Devices used to bring you the ultimate visual experience

Dell machines play a vital role in the creation of visual effects in the movie. Marvel Studios deployed VFX vendors, several of which used a range of Dell technologies to provide enough computing power and storage capacity necessary for visual effects designers to do what they were supposed to do.

These devices include Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, hundreds of monitors, as well as Dell Precision workstations. For instance, artists at the VFX studio DNEG, who worked on the movie, rely on Dell Precision workstations to carry out front-end operations. These workstations facilitate editing and creating new storytelling methods.

Of course, the viewers will be able to catch a glimpse of the new Dell technology in the movie itself. This means you will see a powerful gaming laptop Dell G5 15 and the XPS 13 in some scenes. These machines will make their appearances in places such as Hank Pym’s lab and the X-CON security offices.

This partnership also has altruistic goals. Namely, the tech giant recognizes gaps in supply to meet the demand of workplaces for skills in computer science and computational thinking. Therefore the company intends to use the movie to encourage Boys & Girls Clubs members to explore STEM with a focus on precisely these disciplines.
