Artemis Fowl Is Finally Getting a Movie Adaptation

Seeing the recent release of Disney’s schedule of movies set to release for 2018 and 2019, most people are definitely excited about the upcoming Marvel movies that follow Avengers: Infinity War. Although, if you’re a fellow bookworm and geek as I am, you would have definitely noticed that Artemis Fowl is on that list and is set to be released on 2019. We have been waiting for this live action movie to be confirmed for so long and here it is finally a reality. But wait, what is Artemis Fowl? For those who are new to the fandom, let me give you a little background.

What is Artemis Fowl?

Artemis Fowl is an 8 book series by Irish writer Eoin Colfer revolving around the twelve-year-old criminal mastermind, Artemis Fowl II. It was released in 2001, and ever since then there have been plans of making a movie adaptation, and here we are 17 years later. The movie is said to cover the first 2 books of the series namely: Artemis Fowl and Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident. A few members of the cast were also announced that included Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Nonso Anozie, Judi Dench, and Josh Gad among others.

Now, this book may be under young adults and is usually in the 9-12-year-old section in bookstores, but it is so much more than a simple “book for kids.” What I love the most about the book is how it was so brilliantly written. How a plot twist is within another plot twist over and over again that I cannot comprehend how Colfer had managed to connect all of these events together. Don’t even get me started on how traditional fantasy and sci-fi was put together so amazingly in this book that I would never have expected. Let’s hope Disney doesn’t let us down with this one.

In production now

The film is said to be starting production as we speak, so you better get to reading before watching the movie! Come on, you still have a year. As for I, a 19-year old by the time, this will be released, I will have no shame in lining up with the kids because this is something I have been waiting for after all these years! Tell me what you think about this news in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
