UC Monster: Review of the Logitech P710e Speakerphone

-

In order to have a successful business you need to have innovative, useful products, people that work hard to bring your vision to life, a great marketing and, of course, proper communication, because without that all would be in vain.

Being able to talk with others while organizing a conference is crucial, but nowadays people don’t have to be in the same room to hold a conference as such a meeting can be held via smartphone with ease. However, due to the simple nature of these phones, you can’t create a good conference without having losing voice quality, not to mention the fact that you need to take into account things like echo.

An affordable device that makes it easy for you to create a conference room on your desk.

This is a state of the art device that was specifically created to handle audio conference and video conference calls on smartphones and tablets. Despite that, Logitech Mobile Speakerphone P710e does come with an USB port that serves as a double purpose, which is both charging and connecting via a PC. But since laptops have great audio technology already built in them, most of the time you will find yourself using the device with your smartphones.

The device actually has a sliding panel that allows you to place the phone it. To our surprise, it can even hold an iPad, which was really impressive. The Bluetooth connection it uses to handle the calls is top of the line, so the sound quality is really good. In addition, output of the voice is clear, which makes it great for day to day use at the office.

Just like in the case of any audio device, the real challenge comes in the form of room acoustics. The device is good, but it depends quite a lot where you place it. For example, if you place it in a room with a lot of echo, then the microphone will have a little trouble distinguishing your voice from the echo, which is a slight problem. The device won’t transfer the voice at all if it doesn’t distinguish it correctly. This is why you need to make sure that you use it in a smaller room where there aren’t any echo problems. Aside from the echo problem presented above, there aren’t any other issues with the device, because everything works smoothly.

The packaging for the  is great, even though we don’t receive that many accessories/ The device is tiny and it doesn’t take up a lot of space, it has around 120x120x40mm so you can basically take it anywhere with you thanks to its small size. What we found to be a very nice addition are surely the touch buttons which are very easy to use and do add a lot of style to the device.

You need to charge the device before its first use in order to format the battery, but once that is done, you can easily get around 13-15 hours of talking time for each charge, which is quite neat. The small retractable stand provided by the device doesn’t need to be used, because the connection is made via Bluetooth so as long as you are keeping the device in range you won’t have a problem.

From our experience both apps work great, as long as you keep the echo factor out of the way. As far as we can tell it also works with other unified communication and video conferencing solutions as long as they work with normal USB or Bluetooth audio drivers. As showcased in the feature image above, the P710e can turn your phone or tablet into a full workstation, especially if you attach a Bluetooth keyboard.

In conclusion, the Logitech Mobile Speakerphone P710e is a wonderful piece of engineering that provides clear sounds and a good battery life. This device is surely suitable for just about any type of office, home office, road warriors and other workers on the run. You might to test echo-y environments prior to a conference though, to make sure the audio quality is good, but this would be the case for any speakerphone solution. If you don’t have echo problems in your office though, Logitech Mobile Speakerphone P710e is a stellar purchase at a low price of approx. 170 USD.
